HELLO, EWE’S THAT?

Telephone Sheep

JeanLuc Conlm

I came across these fun sculptures by french artist Jean-Luc Cornec whilst looking for funny sheep photos!

The 1989 “TribuT Telephone Sheep” installation consisted of 32 sheep created by using landline telephones, not only that, the sheep ring from time to time, after some experimenting with tones the artist discovered the ring made a bleating sheep sound!

The ‘wool’ is made using the phone cables and it takes 400 phones to achieve the effect.

“The series explores how fast technology is moving and how we can put old things to good use. The sculptures use the hand dialing base as the head, the cords as their wool and the earpiece as their feet”

A concept that I love, putting ‘old’ things back into use, or in our case, using centuries old traditions and local farms to create modern, sustainable & homegrown hats.

What do you think?
